Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Unit

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Kingston

Some of you might have heard of HBOT, and some are wondering what is Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy. Well, it is a painless and non-invasive therapy that involves breathing oxygen in a pressurised chamber.

Some of us are taking supplements like vitamin C or a multi to improve our nutrient intake, which is good. But the reality is that we can go without eating for days, but we cannot go without oxygen for too long. 90% of our daily energy comes from oxygen and only the rest from food and water.

Our brain uses 25% of the oxygen we breathe; then, we need oxygen to contract our muscles, repair our cells, and calm our nerves; it is also a cleansing tool. If there is low oxygen in the body, our bodies struggle to get rid of toxins, which can lead to disease, infection, and tissue destruction.

What happens during a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy session?

After reviewing your history and making sure there are no contraindications to getting into the chamber, we will discuss what exactly is going to happen. But in summary:

First, we start by getting the chamber under pressure. That will feel a bit like going on a plane. The difference is that if your ears get plugged by the pressure on a plane, you cannot stop the pilot. But during an HBOT session, we can do it very slowly, and we can release the pressure if necessary and take the time to get to the full pressure of 1.3 ATA. When we get to the full pressure, your session will start. During the time of the session, you will feel normal, like when the plane is up in the air, with no pressure difference, and you will not feel discomfort. You might fall asleep, meditate, or read during their session. When the session is over, we will start depressurising the chamber, which again will do very slowly. It might take around 10 min. As soon as we get back to zero pressure, the therapy is finished.

Are there any side effects?

We have a 1.3 ATA chamber, which is mild pressure, and therefore side effects are rare.

How long a session is?

A session can be 60 or 90 min. We are offering 60-minute sessions for now.

How many therapies will I need to see any results?

Everyone is different, and some will do the “40-hour protocol”, as that is how many are used in studies to achieve any physiological benefits. However, even a series of 5 or 10 can make e a huge difference.
